note: though yours truly is a new waver, i have grunge band wannabe, hahahaha!!!
Yes, we dropped Twist of Fate (and also Badmotorfinger) and just minutes before the actual audition gig, we unanimously decided to use our old band name since 1994, Ten Club, since 3 of the 4 members are original Ten Club members, and our guitarist suggested it likewise.
Wow, the last time Ten Club ever played was a front act at Don Bosco Academy... That was us fronting After Image... The last song we played was Far Behind by Candlebox...
We prepared 5 songs, 2 originals and 3 covers... Good thing we we're first, all of the bands were there... hehehehe...
We kicked off with Pearl Jam's Why go, a song which we originally wanted to play during the mid 90's... never happened until now... thank God we did, it was well received by the audience and the other cool bands we played with namely Pandademic, Rubberpool, Afirm and the main act, Chubibo...
Next was Animal, one of the first cover songs we played in the early Ten Club days, it was weird that even if we didn't have a rhythm guitarist, Joey Ordoñez, our guitarist had cringing riffs to pull it off...
3rd song was a song composed by our guitarist, and me privileged enough to write the lyrics for our original song Tempted... We did appreciate that the song was well received in spite of me forgetting my own lyrics...
Down to our 4th song, we did an impromptu Don't you forget about me intro for our first-time cover of Audioslave's Show me how to live... This time, I already have lost my voice due to fatigue, had a few unnoticed errors, thank God for dynamics...
Our last song was an original song again from our guitarist and me providing lyrics to the first song we actually have completed as the new Ten Club, Speed Freak...
We weren't in shape, I have lost my voice since the last 2 band practice sessions, had some glitches while playing, but hey, we admit we were rusty, we fairly did it well, we we're smiling at the end of the audition gig...
It was already enough for me that Afirm's bassist, sir Hermie and their guitarist cum-Angus Young look-a-like, both said that our set was cool.... To us, that's already something to smile about... Even if we did make mistakes... Oh, I never mentioned that all members of Afirm are medical doctors
We aren't expecting anything from Dredd, but we are truly grateful for the opportunity that they gave us, to play at this venue that was home to many notable bands who became rock icons...
Thanks Dredd...
Here's pix I'd like to share with you guys...
